Facial Reflexology

What is Facial Reflexology?

Facial reflexology is a holistic therapy that has its roots in ancient Chinese medicine and is based on the principle that different areas of the face, called reflexes, correspond to different parts of the body. The therapy works by applying pressure to these reflexes on the face using techniques such as finger pressure and massage. This pressure helps to stimulate the body's natural healing response, promoting circulation, relieving tension, and restoring balance to the body's energy systems. Although not classed as a facial beauty treatment, facial reflexology acts naturally to restore your skin’s natural glow, leaving your face feeling refreshed and revitalised.

Facial reflexology is believed to have a range of potential benefits, including reducing stress, promoting relaxation, improving mood, and enhancing overall wellbeing. It's an effective and non-invasive therapy that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and health backgrounds. The proximity of the facial reflex points to the brain and the central nervous system means that the treatment sends messages directly to the body’s neuro pathways. The sensations provoked by a session have to be experienced to be believed!

I specialise in the Bergman Method of Facial Reflexology, and completed my training with the London School of Reflexology under Ziggie Bergman herself. This method of facial reflexology is built on a combination of Native American techniques and Asian body maps that chart the reflex points on the face. The face’s proximity to the brain is key to the effectiveness of manipulating facial reflex points which directly connect to the body’s neuro-pathways. Facial reflexology can be a wonderful therapy to help identify reflexes out of balance and to help you improve your health and well-being.

As an added benefit to the treatment session, the face should feel and look smoother and more toned as circulation is increased and muscle tension is released. Some clients call it their ‘mini Face-lift’ by helping to strengthen layers of skin tissue and improve skin tone. Additionally, over a series of sessions there may be a reduction in lines and wrinkles, helping clients to feel good and look good! This is in addition to stimulating the body’s healing mechanisms and encouraging the body to eliminate toxins.
